KATHMANDU: Authorities have seized 480 tablets of illegal drugs from two women visiting inmates at the Biratnagar prison. The incident occurred on Wednesday during a routine security check at the main entrance of the facility located in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-8.
The suspects, identified as Melina Tamang and Purnima Tamang from Dharan Sub-metropolitan City-11, had concealed the tablets inside sanitary pads. Police reported that the seizure included 240 green tablets and 240 orange tablets. The specific type of the confiscated substances has not yet been disclosed by officials.
Both women were handed over to the Nepal Police team stationed at the prison at 12:50 p.m. for further investigation and legal action.
