KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has called for the restructuring of the party and a transition in leadership.
Bhattarai submitted a written proposal to party Chairman KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday during the second day of the party’s ongoing central committee meeting.
In his proposal, Bhattarai emphasized the need to move forward based on the recommendations provided by the party’s task force report. He suggested that an interim leadership could be established to guide the party until the upcoming local level elections.
Expressing concern over the widening gap between the public and the CPN-UML, Bhattarai stated that the party’s policies and leadership must align with the sentiments and aspirations of the people to restore the connection. ‘Party restructuring and leadership transition are necessary,’ the written statement submitted to Oli said. ‘It is essential to take the party forward according to the suggestions of the task force report. Therefore, we can proceed by forming an interim leadership until the upcoming local elections.’
