KATHMANDU: Nepal’s ruling Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), or UML, has announced plans to fully digitise its party membership system as part of efforts to modernise its organisation and strengthen grassroots engagement.
The plan was unveiled on Wednesday during a membership workshop organised by the party’s Bagmati Province Committee at the UML headquarters in Chyasal under its “Mission Party Awakening” campaign.
The initiative aims to enhance the party’s connection with the public while making its organisational structure more dynamic and efficient at the local level.
Party Secretary Dr Rajan Bhattarai said the UML would make extensive use of digital technology to manage party records, organisational data, communications, reports and public outreach.
“We will encourage party members to maximise the use of digital platforms, particularly for maintaining party records, organisational information, reporting and public engagement,” Bhattarai said.
The party leadership has also decided to conduct political training programmes at the ward and municipal levels to strengthen the political awareness and capacity of its leaders and cadres.
Party Secretary Bhanubhakta Dhakal said digitising membership records and other party documents would help protect them from natural disasters and other unforeseen risks while making the system more efficient.
