KATHMANDU: On Wednesday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index remained relatively unchanged at the previous day’s level of 2622, dipping by a negligible 0.26 points.
Following a 19.34-point drop the previous day, market turnover saw a sharp decline, shrinking from Rs 5.07 billion to just Rs 3.29 billion—a notable drop of Rs 1.78 billion.
During the trading session, the share prices of 111 companies increased, 150 declined, and 18 remained stable. All sector indices fluctuated by less than 1%, with banking, hydropower, non-life insurance, others, and trading sectors posting gains, while development banks, finance, hotels and tourism, investment, life insurance, manufacturing and processing, and microfinance sectors experienced losses.
As usual, the hydropower sector led in transaction volume with Rs 1.84 billion, followed by commercial banks at Rs 370 million and manufacturing and processing at Rs 350 million.
The share prices of recently listed Sarbottam Paints and Mount Everest Power surged by 15%, whereas Mankamana Engineering Hydropower dropped the most at 8.45%. In terms of total transaction amount, Sahas Urja, Solu Hydropower, Reliance Spinning Mills, Mankamana Engineering Hydropower, and Khanikhola Hydropower led the market.
