Govt revenue collection reaches 5.84 percent of annual target in first month of current FY

KATHMANDU: The Nepal government collected 5.84 percent of its total annual revenue target in the first month of the current fiscal year 2026/27, ending on August 16.

According to daily budgetary details released by the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO) covering data up to August 16, the government’s revenue and expenditure position reflects the preliminary phase of the fiscal year.

Against an annual revenue collection target of Rs 1.58 trillion set for the current fiscal year, the government mobilized Rs 92.22 billion in the first month.

Of this total, tax revenue accounted for Rs 85.19 billion, representing 6.07 percent of its specific target, while non-tax revenue collection stood at Rs 7.03 billion, or 3.97 percent of its annual projection.

On the foreign grant side, against an annual target of Rs 61.74 billion, the government received only Rs 240.3 million during the first month, representing a nominal 0.39 percent of the goal.

Overall, including other receipts, total government receipts reached 5.69 percent of the annual target, amounting to Rs 93.43 billion during the review period.

On the expenditure front, out of a total budget ceiling of Rs 2.12 trillion, the government spent just 1.97 percent—equivalent to Rs 41.88 billion—in the first month.
