KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has decided to restore the regular dealer-based system for the sale and distribution of liquefied petroleum (LPG) gas from today.
In a notice issued on Sunday, the corporation said LPG would be distributed from August 17 through dealers authorized by the respective gas industries under the regular distribution mechanism.
NOC has urged consumers requiring LPG cylinders to contact dealers of their choice and purchase gas through the regular distribution network. It has also introduced a five-point arrangement to make the distribution process more organized, transparent and effective.
Under the new arrangement, gas industries must submit daily information to NOC on their authorized sellers and distributors, along with the number of cylinders sold, by 9 am each day.
Likewise, LPG sellers and distributors are required to keep daily records of the quantity of gas sold, consumers’ names and their contact numbers. Such details must be provided to the respective gas industries, which must then submit the information to NOC on the same day.
The corporation has instructed distributors to give priority to consumers who require LPG for essential household purposes. It has also asked the concerned District Administration Offices, through the Ministry of Home Affairs, to facilitate the transportation and distribution of LPG by ensuring necessary security arrangements.
Similarly, NOC has requested the Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection to form a joint monitoring team, including personnel deployed by the corporation, to monitor LPG sales and distribution.
NOC has also urged consumers who are unable to obtain LPG from their nearest dealer and require a cylinder urgently to contact its Quick Response Team (QRT) at 9851455124 or 9851455128.
