KATHMANDU: Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Nepal, Fahd Mohammad A. Mnikhr, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Singha Durbar on Thursday.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral relations, facilitating high-level visits, ensuring the welfare and security of Nepali migrant workers, and advancing mutual interests.
Highlighting the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Nepal and Saudi Arabia, established on March 15, 1977, both sides underscored the importance of sustained high-level exchanges and dialogue to further solidify bilateral cooperation. Minister Khanal noted that high-level visits would inject new momentum into the relationship and foster broader collaboration across various sectors.
Minister Khanal expressed gratitude to the Saudi government for taking proactive security and protective measures to safeguard citizens and foreign workers, including Nepali migrants, during recent regional conflicts.
He also raised concerns regarding reports of certain Nepali workers in Saudi Arabia not receiving fair and timely wages, urging the Saudi authorities to give due attention to resolving these labor issues.
Furthermore, the discussion covered expanding cooperation in key areas including political consultations, investment, tourism, air connectivity, labor mobility, and general worker welfare.
