KATHMANDU: In response to liquidity and supply chain disruptions caused by recent flooding, Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Gauri Kumari Yadav has instructed relevant authorities to implement immediate measures ensuring easy availability of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the Kathmandu Valley.
Minister Yadav directed officials to establish a provision—applicable exclusively within the Kathmandu Valley—allowing consumers to exchange their empty LPG cylinder for a filled cylinder of any other brand at the standard market price if their regular brand is unavailable.
According to the ministry, this temporary measure aims to provide immediate relief to households facing shortages caused by flood-damaged transport routes.
Minister Yadav directed the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) and gas bottling industries to strictly implement this arrangement across the valley, warning that any market manipulation, artificial shortages, or non-compliance would face strict legal action.
