Ten seats of people’s representatives remain vacant

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has shared that 10 seats of elected people’s representatives of local levels have remained vacant.

Issuing a notice today, the EC mentioned that such number of seats have remained vacant after the elected people’s representatives joined other political parties.

Four seats of people’s representatives in Madhes Province, three in Koshi Province, two in Bagmati Province and one in Sudurpaschim Province have remained vacant.

In Madhes Province, the posts of chairperson of Shahidnagar municipality-5 in Dhanusha, chairperson of Bideha municipality-6, ward chairperson of Kamala municipality-5 and ward chairperson of Mithila municipality-2 are vacant.

Similarly, in Koshi Province, the post of ward chairperson of Kepilasgadhi rural municipality-3, vice-chairperson of Barahpokhari rural municipality of Khotang and chairperson of Dhanpalthan rural municipality-5 of Morang have also remained vacant.

In Bagmati Province, ward chairperson of Jiri municipality-6 and chairperson of Jiri municipality-3 in Dolakha have joined the other political parties and their posts have remained vacant.

According to EC, the post of vice-chairperson of Bardagoriya rural municipality in Kailali of Sudurpaschim Province is also vacant.

The EC received the decision central committee of the concerned political parties about the details of people’s representatives who have joined other political parties after being elected from different political parties including the then CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist) in local-level election held in 2079 BS.

The notice was published for the information to all concerned as per the Rule 22 (2) of the Political Parties Regulations, 2074, stated the EC.(RSS)
