BAGLUNG: Dhauwalagiri Multiple Campus in Baglung has enhanced its hostel facilities for both male and female students to draw in more enrollees.
The campus has increased its investment in developing hostel infrastructure. For the past three years, it has been providing accommodation for female students. Campus chief Dr. Sudarshan Silwal stated that a male hostel is currently under construction to attract new students, as there has been a decline in enrollment.
He mentioned that, with the support of Tribhuvan University, a male hostel accommodating 70 students is being built at a cost of Rs. 35 million. The construction is nearing completion, with the third floor of the building being sloped.
The campus has broadened its residential offerings to cater to students from outside districts. In addition to Baglung, students from Mustang, Myagdi, and Parbat are pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the campus.
According to campus chief Silwal, 42 students are presently utilizing the female dormitory, which was constructed three years ago at a cost of Rs 30 million.
Once the new boy’s hostel is completed, it will provide accommodation for an additional 70 students. He remarked, “The hostel is designed to support poor and underprivileged students from remote areas who are unable to afford rental accommodations.
Tribhuvan University has established guidelines for selecting students to receive free housing facilities.” The campus only charges a cleaning fee to students residing in the hostel.
Previously, some students opted to study in Pokhara and Kathmandu due to insufficient hostel accommodations. Hostel coordinator Hiralal Regmi expressed that the new hostel facilities will offer remote and underprivileged students a conducive environment for their higher education.
Currently, approximately 2,200 students are enrolled at Dhauwalagiri Multiple Campus. Despite the decline in student numbers, the campus continues to strive for improvement.
