KATHMANDU: Heavy rainfall has disrupted road connectivity in several districts, with landslides, flooding, mudslides and river erosion blocking major routes. Authorities have suspended traffic along several road sections and urged travellers to exercise caution.

According to the latest details released by the Police Headquarters, roads in Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchowk, Rasuwa, Rukum West, Lamjung, Ilam, Nuwakot and Makawanpur have been affected.

In Kavrepalanchok, traffic on the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi road has been restricted between 6:00 pm and 4:00 am due to the risk of flooding. Vehicles are allowed to operate from 4:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Similarly, vehicular movement along the Kanti Lokpath in Makawanpur has been prohibited from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am because of rainfall. On the Tokha-Chhahare road section in Nuwakot, public and private vehicles, except those providing essential services, have been barred from operating between 10:00 pm and 5:00 am until further notice.

The Mechi Highway has been completely blocked at Rajduwali in Ilam Municipality-9 after mud accumulated on the road. An alternative route is available in the area.

The Araniko Highway has also been blocked at Kodari in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2, Sindhupalchowk, following a landslide. The road at Liping in the same rural municipality has also been washed away.

In Rasuwa, the Trishuli-Mailung-Syafrubesi road section at Khalte in Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5 has been blocked after erosion by the Trishuli River damaged the road. The Pasang Lhamu Highway has also been obstructed by a landslide at Syauparking in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-2.

Meanwhile, a landslide has completely blocked the Jajarkot-Dolpa road section of the Bheri Corridor at Rizegard Khola in Aathbiskot Municipality-6, Rukum West.
