KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) non-establishment faction formally passed five comprehensive reports with amendments at its national gathering at Miracle Party Palace in Sukedhara.
The documents cover political direction (Bimalendra Nidhi), organization (Umakanta Chaudhary), contemporary policy (NP Saud), economic policy (Prakash Sharan Mahat) and legal or constitutional matters (Ramesh Lekhak).
Participants adopted the documents following intensive group discussions that addressed severe internal disputes.
In his political report, leader Bimalendra Nidhi criticized the current leadership, warning that unconstitutional moves and improper membership pressure threaten party statutes and democratic values ahead of the 15th General Convention.
Meanwhile, Ramesh Lekhak submitted a concept paper proposing a strict “one person, one post” rule and limits on holding special conventions close to general elections.
Addressing concerns over party unity, leader Shashank Koirala clarified that the gathering was called solely to refine policies, ruling out any intentions of a party split.
He added that future decisions will be made through mutual dialogue, claiming the next general convention will take place under former President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s leadership while criticizing the current Balen government’s lack of notable performance despite holding a parliamentary majority.
