KATHMANDU: The Department of Industry is preparing to expand its Industrial Management Information System by bringing provincial industries, industrial property services and the One-Stop Service Centre under the same digital platform.
The department launched the system on August 2 (Shrawan 18) to provide fully digital registration and renewal services for industries with paid-up capital above Rs 250 million, industries involving foreign investment and those requiring approval from the Industrial Promotion Board.
Speaking at an event organized by the Confederation of Nepalese Industries on Thursday, Department of Industry Director General Jitendra Basnet said a new module would be added to extend similar digital services to industries that fall under provincial governments.
The department is also preparing to integrate industrial property services, including patents, designs and trademarks, as well as One-Stop Service Centre services into the system. Basnet said the necessary process has already begun, with integration planned within the current fiscal year.
According to the department, the digital system will reduce the need for businesses to rely on lawyers or other intermediaries for routine tasks such as industry registration and renewal.
Basnet said the system is designed to be user-friendly, allowing employees of industrial enterprises to directly access services online.
CNI President Birendra Raj Pandey said such digital initiatives would help produce meaningful results in creating a more investment-friendly business environment.
