KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) issued a notice inviting competitive bids to collect Rs 20 billion in excess liquidity from the financial system using its 35-day deposit collection instrument.

According to the central bank, online bidding will take place this afternoon through its Online Bidding System Software (OBSS), with final issuance occurring later today. The instrument is scheduled to mature, alongside accrued interest, on September 18, 2026.

Only “A”, “B”, and “C” class banks and financial institutions licensed by NRB are eligible to participate in the auction.

Bidders are required to specify their desired deposit amount and interest rate up to four decimal places, with options for multi-rate bidding.

Bids must be submitted for a minimum of Rs 100 million and in multiples of Rs 100 million up to the total Rs 20 billion call amount.

Interest rates will be determined dynamically through the auction, with lowest-rate offers receiving primary allocation priority and tied bids being distributed on a pro-rata basis.
