NSEC calls off strike following a wage increase

A A+ A-

KATHMANDU: The Nepal School Employees Council (NSEC) has decided to suspend its planned protest after the government announced a monthly salary hike of five thousand rupees for school employees.

In a joint statement released today, Council President Gangaram Tiwari and General Secretary Shantinath Yogi expressed their appreciation for the government’s decision.

However, they also emphasized the need to address other important issues for school staff, such as improved services and facilities, opportunities for professional development, social security, necessary staffing, and permanent management.

As part of the government’s decision, the wage subsidy for early childhood development facilitators, school employees, and school helpers has been raised by five thousand rupees per month.

This means that the salary for ECD Facilitators will now be Rs 17,000, up from Rs 12,000; School Helpers will earn Rs 15,000 instead of Rs 10,000; and School Accountants will see their pay rise from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000.
