KATHMANDU: Standard Chartered Bank Nepal’s net profit declined 5.38% in fiscal year 2025/26, according to the bank’s unaudited financial results.
The bank posted a net profit of Rs 2.85 billion in FY 2025/26, down from Rs 3.01 billion in the previous fiscal year.
The decline was mainly driven by a drop in net interest income. The bank’s net interest income fell 11.62% to Rs 3.94 billion from Rs 4.46 billion a year earlier.
However, net fee and commission income increased to Rs 1.48 billion from Rs 1.36 billion. Total operating income stood at Rs 6.41 billion, down from Rs 6.57 billion in the previous year, while operating profit declined to Rs 4.17 billion from Rs 4.69 billion.
The bank reported distributable profit of Rs 1.91 billion for the year, giving it a dividend-paying capacity of 19.04%.
Standard Chartered Bank Nepal has a paid-up capital of Rs 10.04 billion, while its reserve and surplus stood at Rs 10.72 billion.
The bank’s deposits increased 17.82% to Rs 147.68 billion by the end of Ashadh, compared with Rs 125.34 billion a year earlier. However, its loan portfolio declined 9.41% to Rs 66.03 billion from Rs 72.89 billion.
The bank’s credit-to-deposit (CD) ratio stood at 47.24%.
Earnings per share (EPS) declined to Rs 28.38 from Rs 30 in the previous year. Its net worth per share stood at Rs 225.80, while the price-to-earnings ratio was 23.5 times.
Asset quality weakened during the year, with the bank’s non-performing loan (NPL) ratio rising to 2.03% from 1.41%.
Capital adequacy, however, improved. The bank’s Tier-1 capital adequacy ratio increased to 16.68% from 15.75%, while its overall capital adequacy ratio stood at 18.13%.
